Blackstone Smash Burgers

Ingredients

The burgers

  • 32 ounces ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • ¾ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup avocado oil (divided)
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese

For serving

  • to taste lettuce
  • to taste tomato
  • to taste onion
  • to taste ketchup
  • to taste mustard
  • to taste mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper.
  2. Form the meat into 6 balls, each just over 6 ounces.
  3. Heat the Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of oil and place the meat balls on the griddle.
  5. Smash the patties down to about a 4-inch diameter.
  6. Cook for about 3 minutes until charred.
  7. Flip the burgers and cook for another 2 minutes.
  8. Add cheese to each burger and cover to melt the cheese for about 45 seconds.
  9. Transfer the burgers to a plate and allow them to rest.
  10. Brush the griddle with the remaining oil and reduce the heat to medium.
  11. Toast the buns cut side down until golden brown, about 1 to 3 minutes.
  12. Serve the patties on the buns with desired toppings.
