Instructions
- Drizzle olive oil onto the grill grates to prevent sticking and preheat the grill to medium-high heat (450 degrees).
- Season the ground beef with liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, and the homemade burger rub. Form 4 burger patties without overworking the meat.
- Ensure the patties are cold before grilling; refrigerate if necessary.
- Place the burgers onto the grill without pressing down. Flip them occasionally for even cooking.
- Cook the burgers according to your desired doneness, using a meat thermometer if needed.
- A minute before removing the burgers, top each with a slice of cheese and toast the buns if desired.
- Allow the burgers to rest for 10 minutes before serving on the buns.
