Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onions
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Burger assembly

  • 4 slices cheese (any type)
  • 4 brioche buns brioche buns

Instructions

  1. Drizzle olive oil onto the grill grates to prevent sticking and preheat the grill to medium-high heat (450 degrees).
  2. Season the ground beef with liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, and the homemade burger rub. Form 4 burger patties without overworking the meat.
  3. Ensure the patties are cold before grilling; refrigerate if necessary.
  4. Place the burgers onto the grill without pressing down. Flip them occasionally for even cooking.
  5. Cook the burgers according to your desired doneness, using a meat thermometer if needed.
  6. A minute before removing the burgers, top each with a slice of cheese and toast the buns if desired.
  7. Allow the burgers to rest for 10 minutes before serving on the buns.
