Instructions
- Preheat the smoker to 250 degrees.
- Remove the ground beef from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for 30 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, table salt, and black pepper.
- Mix the ingredients gently to avoid overhandling the meat.
- Portion the mixture into 8 oz balls and form thick patties.
- Add wood chips to the smoke tube (hickory is recommended).
- Place the patties directly on the smoker rack with a drip pan underneath.
- Cook until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees, approximately 1 hour, flipping halfway through.
- When done, add cheese and cook for an additional 5 minutes until melted.
- Serve the burgers on buns with your choice of toppings.
