Grilled Burgers

Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 (1/2 pound) or 6 (1/3 pound) patties and form them into 1" thick patties slightly larger than the buns.
- Indent the center of each patty with your thumb and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat the grill to medium-high heat (about 350-400°F).
- Place the patties on the grill, close the lid, and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned.
- Flip the burgers and grill for an additional 2-3 minutes for rare, 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or 6-7 minutes for medium well, checking with a thermometer.
- If adding cheese, place it on the burgers in the last minute of grilling and close the lid to melt.
- Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve the burgers as desired.
