Strawberry Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour
  • cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cup skim milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • cup diced strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and prepare a doughnut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the diced strawberries with agave nectar or maple syrup and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Add the milk, egg, and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the strawberry mixture.
  6. Fill each doughnut mold about ⅔ full and bake for 7-9 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
