Ingredients

The doughnuts

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2⅔ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk

The glaze

  • cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk or water
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • to taste berry extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and grease two standard doughnut pans.
  2. In a bowl, beat together butter, vegetable oil, and sugars until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and mix well.
  4. Stir in baking powder, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding flour and milk to the mixture, starting and ending with flour.
  6. Spoon the batter into the doughnut pans, filling them to about ¼ inch from the rim.
  7. Bake standard doughnuts for 9-10 minutes or mini doughnuts for 4-5 minutes.
  8. Let the doughnuts cool slightly before removing them from the pans.
  9. Prepare the glaze and dip the tops of the doughnuts into it, then sprinkle with desired toppings.
