Rare Tuna Steak and Spicy Mango Sauce

Ingredients

The tuna steak

  • 150 g Fresh tuna steak
  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

The spicy mango sauce

  • ½ mango Flesh, chopped
  • 25 g Ginger, coarsely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, coarsely chopped
  • ½ tsp Sambal Oelek
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Tamari or Japanese soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Liquid honey
  • 1 tbsp Mirin

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill or cast iron skillet to very high heat.
  2. Rub the tuna steaks with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the tuna steak on the hot grill or pan for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until a golden crust forms.
  4. Ensure the center remains slightly red and not overcooked.
  5. Serve the tuna as is or slice it thinly.
  6. Prepare the spicy mango sauce by blending all sauce ingredients until smooth.
