Seared Peppercorn Encrusted Tuna Steaks

Ingredients

The tuna steaks

  • 2 pieces tuna steaks (about 6 ounces each, 1 1/5″ thick)

The seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons coarsely grated peppercorns
  • 1–2 teaspoons salt (to taste)

The oil

  • ¼ cup sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Coat each tuna steak in sesame oil on all sides.
  2. On a plate, mix the coarsely ground peppercorns and salt, then dip each steak into the mixture to create a crust.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400 degrees).
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for no longer than 2.5 minutes on each side.
  5. Serve with low sodium soy sauce and wasabi, adjusting cooking time for desired doneness.
