Ingredients

The beans

  • 3 cans pork and beans

The sauce

  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

The aromatics

  • ½ cup onion

The garnish

  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 8 slices bacon

Seasoning

  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove it from the pan.
  2. Pour out most of the bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the pan.
  3. Add the diced onions to the pan and cook until translucent, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. In a slow cooker, combine the beans, cooked onions, mustard, brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, and apple cider vinegar.
  5. Add ¾ of the cooked bacon to the slow cooker and stir to combine.
  6. Cook on HIGH for 2 hours or LOW for 4 hours.
  7. Garnish with reserved bacon and chopped parsley before serving.
