Homemade Vanilla Sugar

vanilla bean (5–7 inch long)
Instructions
- Place sugar in a food processor or blender.
- Cut the vanilla bean pod in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds, placing them on top of the sugar.
- Pulse or blend until the seeds are broken up and mixed with the sugar.
- Pour the mixture into a jar or container.
- Submerge the empty vanilla bean pod into the sugar for added flavor (optional).
- Use the sugar immediately or let it sit for at least 2 weeks for optimal flavor.
- Store at room temperature and shake every few weeks to prevent clumping.
