Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean vanilla bean (5–7 inch long)

Instructions

  1. Place sugar in a food processor or blender.
  2. Cut the vanilla bean pod in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds, placing them on top of the sugar.
  3. Pulse or blend until the seeds are broken up and mixed with the sugar.
  4. Pour the mixture into a jar or container.
  5. Submerge the empty vanilla bean pod into the sugar for added flavor (optional).
  6. Use the sugar immediately or let it sit for at least 2 weeks for optimal flavor.
  7. Store at room temperature and shake every few weeks to prevent clumping.
