Ingredients

The apples

  • 4 large honey crisp apples

The streusel filling

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and separated
  • 1 cup granola
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon coarse salt
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and core the apples halfway, creating a well on top.
  2. Wipe each apple with melted butter and bake for 15 minutes.
  3. Mix the remaining butter with granola, cinnamon, cardamom, salt, and maple syrup until coated.
  4. Remove the apples, fill each with ¼ cup of the granola mixture, cover with foil, and bake for another 30-40 minutes until softened.
  5. Let the apples rest for 10 minutes before serving with nut butter or vanilla ice cream.
