Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (191°C).
- Mix the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and oats until combined. Add any optional ingredients if desired.
- Core the apples using a sharp knife and spoon or an apple corer.
- Place the cored apples in a baking dish and fill them with the mixture.
- Pour warm water around the apples in the baking dish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the apples are slightly soft, adjusting time for desired softness.
- Remove from the oven and optionally baste the apples with the pan juices.
- Serve warm with salted caramel, whipped cream, or ice cream.
