Baked Apples

The apples

baking apples (like Granny Smith)
The filling

salted butter, softened

brown sugar

ground ginger

For baking

to cover the bottom of the pan
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Core the apples, leaving the bottoms intact, and place them in an 8x8 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and chopped pecans.
- Stuff the butter mixture into the cored apples.
- Cover the bottom of the baking dish with water.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes until the apples are soft and the filling is caramelized.
- Serve immediately, optionally with ice cream or cream/milk.
