Sun-Dried Tomato Basil Strata

Ingredients

The base

  • 6 large eggs
  • cups Horizon Organic Grass Fed Milk
  • ½ cup Horizon Organic Half and Half
  • cups leftover sourdough bread, torn into 1-inch pieces

The flavorings

  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped

The vegetables and herbs

  • 2 cups chopped spinach, packed
  • cup fresh basil leaves, packed
  • cup julienne cut sun-dried tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced kalamata olives (optional)

The cheese

  • ½ cup Horizon Organic Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese

Optional garnish

  • fresh basil
  • crushed red pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10-inch round baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, half and half, oregano, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper.
  3. Fold in the spinach, basil, sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, and garlic.
  4. Add the sourdough bread pieces, mozzarella cheese, and feta cheese, and mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Allow to cool before slicing and garnish with fresh basil and crushed red pepper if desired.
