Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 and ⅓ cups warm water
  • 2 and ¼ teaspoons Platinum Yeast from Red Star instant yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 1 Tablespoon milk

Filling

  • 8 slices cheese or 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 16 slices deli ham or 2 cups cubed ham

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a mixing bowl and let it rest.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and flour to the mixture and beat until combined.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is soft and slightly tacky.
  4. Grease a bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven and prepare baking sheets.
  6. Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 8 pieces, and flatten each piece.
  7. Place cheese and ham on one side of each piece, fold over, and seal the edges.
  8. Brush with egg wash and make slits for air vents.
  9. Bake until golden brown and cool before serving.
