Ingredients

The cookies

  • 3 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Nutella glaze

  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • cup Nutella
  • ¼ cup heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt
  • ½ cup chopped hazelnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth, then add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Divide the dough, roll out, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven and cut the chilled dough into shapes.
  7. Bake the cookies until lightly browned, then cool completely.
  8. Prepare the Nutella glaze by mixing all glaze ingredients until smooth.
  9. Spread the glaze on cooled cookies and decorate with hazelnuts if desired.
