Ingredients

The cookies

  • 16 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

The icing/decorating

  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 1-3 tablespoons milk
  • to taste sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Beat together butter and cream cheese until fluffy, then add sugar and mix until fluffy.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt, then add to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
  3. Divide the dough into four portions, shape into disks, wrap, and chill for at least an hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 325ºF and roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness, then cut out cookies.
  5. Bake on parchment-lined sheets for 15 to 18 minutes until edges are lightly golden, then cool on a wire rack.
  6. Make the icing by mixing confectioner’s sugar with milk until pourable, then decorate cookies with icing and sprinkles.
