Ingredients

The oats

  • 1 cup uncooked steel-cut oats
  • ½ tsp salt

The spices

  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves

The sweeteners

  • cup dark molasses
  • ½ cup raisins

Instructions

  1. 1. Boil 4 cups of water in a medium pot.
  2. 2. Add the steel-cut oats and stir, then reduce the heat to low.
  3. 3. Stir in the salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves while the oats simmer.
  4. 4. Simmer until the oats reach your desired thickness, about 20-30 minutes.
  5. 5. Turn off the heat and stir in the molasses.
  6. 6. Serve one cup of oats topped with ¼ cup of raisins, or portion into containers for later.
