Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and boil 3½ cups of water.
- Toast the steel-cut oats in a skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, then add the spices and toast for an additional minute.
- Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish or keep it in the skillet and stir in the sesame seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, salt, and vanilla.
- Add the apple wedges and pour the boiling water over the top, then stir in the maple syrup.
- Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, brushing the apples with more maple syrup or butter halfway through, and broil for 1 minute until golden.
- Serve warm, optionally with more maple syrup or butter.
