Ingredients

The oats

  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp flaxseed meal (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup or coconut sugar (or other sweetener of choice)
  • ΒΌ tsp ground cinnamon

For serving (optional)

  • to taste fruit compote
  • to taste fresh fruit (such as banana)
  • to taste dairy-free milk of choice
  • to taste nut butter (such as peanut butter or almond butter)
  • to taste hemp seeds

Instructions

  1. Soak 1 cup of steel cut oats in 2 cups of water for 6 hours or overnight.
  2. The next day, add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes until the oats are tender.
  4. Stir in flaxseed meal, sweetener, and cinnamon, adding dairy-free milk if desired for creaminess.
  5. Serve in bowls and top with fruit compote, fresh fruit, nut butter, and hemp seeds as desired.
