Raisin Cinnamon Steel Cut Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • cups steel cut oats
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring water, milk, and salt to a boil.
  2. Add oats and raisins, stir well, and bring back to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.
  4. Once oats are tender and liquid has mostly evaporated, stir in vanilla and cinnamon.
  5. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for about 10 minutes to thicken.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with additional raisins and nutmeg if desired.
