Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ¼ oz active dry yeast
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Some oil for greasing the skillet

The topping

  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, warm water, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit until foamy.
  2. Make a well in the flour on a flat surface and add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and oil.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and shiny, then cover and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 portions and roll each into an 8-inch circle.
  5. Heat a skillet and grease it lightly with oil.
  6. Cook the dough in the skillet until it puffs and has burnt spots, then flip and cook the other side.
  7. Mix melted butter with minced garlic and brush over each naan.
  8. Top with shredded cheese and garnish with cilantro before serving.
