Instructions
- Proof the yeast by whisking together warm water, yeast, and ¼ tsp sugar, then let it rest until frothy.
- Mix in the milk, yogurt, olive oil, egg yolk, remaining sugar, and salt, then stir in about ⅔ of the flour.
- Knead in the remaining flour until the dough pulls away from the sides and is slightly sticky.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rest until doubled in volume.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions, rounding out the edges.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Roll each piece of dough into a 9-inch oval shape, dotting the top with water.
- Cook the naan moistened side down until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough, adjusting heat as necessary.
- Brush the naan with melted butter before serving.
