Ingredients

The dough

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil

For cooking

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • olive oil as needed for the skillet

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, warm water, and yeast in a small bowl and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make a well in the flour on a clean surface and add the yeast mixture, yogurt, salt, and oil.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and shiny, about 10 minutes, then cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Divide the risen dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into an 8-inch circle.
  5. Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and lightly grease it.
  6. Cook the rolled dough in the hot skillet until it puffs and develops blackened spots, then flip to cook the other side.
  7. Brush the cooked naan with melted butter and serve warm.
