Garlic Naan

Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ oz active dry yeast
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt, plain
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

The topping

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • oil for greasing the skillet

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, warm water, and yeast in a bowl and let sit until foamy.
  2. Make a well in the flour, add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and oil, then knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 portions and roll each into an 8-inch circle.
  5. Sprinkle minced garlic and cilantro on top of each dough circle.
  6. Heat a cast-iron skillet and grease it with oil.
  7. Cook each naan in the skillet until it puffs up and has brown spots, flipping to cook both sides.
  8. Brush the cooked naan with melted butter and serve warm.
