Ingredients

  • 1 and 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined, then fold in the mini M&Ms.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 teaspoon each, and place them on the baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 7-8 minutes until the edges are lightly browned.
  8. Press additional M&Ms into the tops if desired and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
