Ingredients

The dough

  • cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 4 cups flour

Butter and Topping

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • to taste dried herbs, garlic salt, and grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. 1. Mix warm water, yeast, sugar, salt, and 1 cup of flour in a bowl or stand mixer.
  2. 2. Gradually add more flour until the dough clears the sides of the bowl and knead for about 3 minutes.
  3. 3. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  4. 4. Preheat the oven to 400°F and spread melted butter on a baking sheet.
  5. 5. Pat the dough into a rectangle and cut it into 1-inch strips.
  6. 6. Twist each strip and place them on the baking sheet, spaced apart.
  7. 7. Sprinkle with herbs, garlic salt, and Parmesan cheese.
  8. 8. Let the breadsticks rise for 20 minutes before baking.
  9. 9. Bake for 15 minutes until golden.
