The topping

Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm water with ½ tsp sugar and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Add remaining sugar, 1½ cups flour, salt, and oil to the yeast mixture and blend until combined.
- Switch to a dough hook and add the remaining flour, kneading until smooth and elastic.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1½ hours.
- Punch the risen dough down, divide it into 12 equal pieces, and roll each into a 9-inch rope.
- Place the ropes on lined baking sheets and cover, letting them rise for another hour.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F during the last 10 minutes of rising.
- Bake the breadsticks for 11-13 minutes until golden.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with the salt and garlic powder mixture.
