Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, combine the dry ingredients and pulse to mix. Add the chilled butter and pulse until the butter is pea-sized.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and gradually add the chilled buttermilk, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick square. Cut the dough into 4 pieces, stack them, and roll into a rectangle.
  5. Cut the dough into a 4x3 grid to make 12 biscuits and place them on the baking sheet. Freeze for 10 minutes.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter and bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
