Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla, and salt, mixing until combined.
- Reduce mixer speed and add flour and baking powder, mixing until the dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch thick.
- Transfer the dough to a 9-inch tart pan, pressing it into the bottom and sides.
- Trim any excess dough and cover with parchment paper.
- Fill with pie weights or dried beans and bake for 12 minutes.
- Remove the weights and parchment, then bake until golden brown for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
- Cool the tart shell completely on a rack.
