Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • cup shortening
  • 5-7 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Sift flour and salt into a food processor, add shortening, and pulse until the mixture resembles small peas.
  3. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of cold water over the mixture and pulse again; repeat until the mixture holds together.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls and flatten one on a floured surface, rolling it out to 1/8-inch thick.
  5. Fit the rolled dough into a pie plate, trim the edges, and flute the edge.
  6. Prick the bottom and sides with a fork and bake until golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes.
