Homemade Donuts

The donut dough

vegetable oil (for frying)
For coating
Instructions
- Heat about ½ inch of oil in a large pan over medium heat to 355°F.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, ¼ cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and melted butter.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed.
- Roll the dough into ½ tablespoon-sized balls.
- Fry the dough balls in batches until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the donuts and let them drain on paper towels.
- Roll the warm donuts in sugar to coat.
