Lemon Butter Green Beans

Ingredients

The green beans

  • 1 lb green beans

The sauce

  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 whole lemon
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Freshly Cracked Pepper

Instructions

  1. Zest the lemon and set aside the zest.
  2. Remove the stems from the green beans and rinse them in cool water.
  3. Place green beans in a deep skillet with about one inch of water and cover with a lid.
  4. Heat on medium-high until the water boils, then steam the beans for 3-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  5. Drain the beans and return them to the warm skillet.
  6. Add butter, lemon zest, a squeeze of lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the beans.
  7. Toss the beans to melt the butter and distribute the seasonings.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve immediately.
