Instructions
- Zest the lemon and set aside the zest.
- Remove the stems from the green beans and rinse them in cool water.
- Place green beans in a deep skillet with about one inch of water and cover with a lid.
- Heat on medium-high until the water boils, then steam the beans for 3-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
- Drain the beans and return them to the warm skillet.
- Add butter, lemon zest, a squeeze of lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the beans.
- Toss the beans to melt the butter and distribute the seasonings.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve immediately.
