Sauteed Broccoli

Ingredients

The vegetables

  • 1 large head broccoli
  • 4 cloves garlic

The seasoning

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • to taste freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 squeeze lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

The water

  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add broccoli florets and season with sea salt and black pepper, stirring to coat.
  3. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes.
  4. Add water and cover the skillet, reducing heat to medium.
  5. Stir every 1 to 2 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp and lightly charred, about 5 minutes.
  6. Uncover and cook for another 2 minutes until lightly charred.
  7. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds.
  8. Squeeze lemon juice over the broccoli and add lemon zest, tossing gently before serving.
