Ingredients

The salmon

  • 1 pound fresh salmon filet

The seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1-2 teaspoons brown sugar or sweetener

Instructions

  1. Soak the cedar plank in water for at least one hour.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (400 degrees).
  3. Place the salmon on the cedar plank, skin side down if applicable.
  4. Rub olive oil over the salmon and season with the spices, reserving the brown sugar for later.
  5. Rub the spices into the fish for better flavor penetration.
  6. Grill the salmon for 12-15 minutes until the center turns opaque and reaches an internal temperature of 135-140 degrees.
