Crispy Baked Tostones
Ingredients
The plantains
The oil and seasoning

avocado oil or other quality cooking oil

flaky sea salt or kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Peel and slice the plantains into 1-inch thick rounds.
- Toss the plantain slices with 2 tablespoons of oil and spread them evenly on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven.
- Smash each round to about ¼-inch thickness using a glass or measuring cup.
- Brush both sides of the smashed plantains with the remaining oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 14 to 17 minutes until golden and crispy.
