Crispy Salted Tostones

Ingredients

The tostones

  • 3 pieces green plantains
  • 1–2 cups vegetable oil
  • to taste sea salt

For dipping

  • 1 serving Magic Green Sauce

Instructions

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  3. Fry the plantains in batches until light golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Smash each piece with a wooden spoon to flatten them.
  5. Return the smashed plantains to the oil and fry for an additional 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain excess oil on paper towels, sprinkle with sea salt, and serve immediately with dipping sauce.
