Instructions
- Remove the membrane from the ribs and discard it.
- Sprinkle kosher salt over the ribs and massage it into the meat, then set aside.
- Mix garlic powder, brown sugar, dried thyme, chili powder, paprika, and black pepper in a bowl.
- Sprinkle the spice mix over the ribs and ensure they are fully covered, then wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 300ºF and prepare a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
- Unwrap the ribs, place them on the baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and cover with tin foil.
- Bake the ribs at 300ºF for 2.5 hours.
- Prepare the BBQ sauce by combining all sauce ingredients in a saucepan, bringing to a boil, then simmering for 15 minutes.
- Remove the ribs from the oven, discard the foil, increase the oven temperature to 400ºF, and slather the ribs with BBQ sauce.
- Return the ribs to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the sauce caramelizes.
- Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before serving.
