Naturally Sweetened Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

  • 18 pieces Medjool dates
  • ½ cup room temperature water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a small pinch salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese and butter at room temperature.
  2. Slice the cream cheese into quarters.
  3. Soak the dates in hot water for 10 minutes, then drain.
  4. Remove the pits from the soaked dates.
  5. Blend the pitted dates with room temperature water, vanilla, and salt in a food processor until smooth.
  6. Add the cream cheese and butter to the date mixture and blend until fluffy.
  7. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, allowing it to warm to room temperature before use.
