Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes

Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into quarters

cream cheese, room temperature, cut into small cubes

sour cream, room temperature

milk, room temperature or warm
The seasonings

kosher salt, or more to taste

black pepper, or more to taste

garlic, minced
The garnish

chopped parsley and/or chives, optional

Instructions
- 1. Boil a large pot of heavily salted water.
- 2. Add the quartered potatoes and cook until very tender, about 20 minutes.
- 3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- 4. Melt the butter with garlic in a microwave until melted.
- 5. Add the melted butter mixture, cream cheese, sour cream, milk, salt, and pepper to the potatoes.
- 6. Mash the potatoes until mostly smooth.
- 7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- 8. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with parsley or chives and additional butter if desired.
