Ingredients

The cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas (peeled and mashed, to equal 1 cup)
  • ½ cup Nutella

The Nutella frosting

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon hazelnut extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth, then beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the yogurt and vanilla extract. Mix in the mashed bananas.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and swirl in the Nutella.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  6. For the frosting, beat the butter and Nutella until smooth, then gradually mix in the powdered sugar and add milk to achieve desired consistency.
  7. Frost the cooled cake and cut into squares to serve. Optionally, add sprinkles.
