Grilled New York Strip Steak

Ingredients

The steak

  • 4 steaks New York strip steaks

The seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste kosher salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Remove steaks from refrigerator 20 minutes before grilling and let them stand at room temperature.
  2. Heat the grill on high for 10 to 15 minutes and clean the cooking grate.
  3. Brush each steak with olive oil and season with kosher salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Place steaks on the grill and cook until browned and charred on one side, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. Flip the steaks and grill for an additional 3 to 5 minutes for medium-rare, 5 to 7 minutes for medium, or 8 to 10 minutes for medium-well.
  6. Transfer the steaks to a platter, tent with aluminum foil, and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
