Ingredients

  • 1 and ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 and ¼ cup yellow or vanilla boxed cake mix
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 and ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, cake mix, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl.
  2. Beat the softened butter and both sugars until creamy, then add the egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then mix in the chocolate chips and sprinkles.
  4. Cover the dough tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare baking sheets.
  6. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the baking sheets, shaping them taller than wide.
  7. Bake for 13-15 minutes until the edges are lightly browned and the centers are soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
