Ingredients

The Chicken Burgers

  • lbs ground chicken
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 large egg
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

The Caramelized Onions

  • 1 large red onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter

The Assembly

  • 4 whole wheat buns
  • 1 large avocado, sliced
  • 4 leaves butter lettuce
  • 1–2 large roma tomatoes, sliced
  • to taste BBQ Sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté sliced onions for about 10 minutes.
  2. Add butter, salt, and pepper to the onions and cook until the butter is melted and absorbed.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground chicken, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper, then form into four patties.
  4. Preheat the grill and cook the patties for 4 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
  5. Toast the buns on the grill for about 1 minute.
  6. Assemble the burgers with the bottom bun, lettuce, tomato slices, chicken patty, avocado, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce, and top bun.
