Ingredients

The patties

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • ¼ cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

The toppings

  • whole wheat buns hamburger buns
  • to taste lettuce
  • to taste tomato
  • to taste onion
  • to taste avocado (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5 to 6 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  4. Toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on a griddle until lightly golden.
  5. Remove the cooked patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a chicken patty on each bun and adding desired toppings.
  7. Serve the burgers with the top bun placed on.
