Ingredients

The base

  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
  • tsp Cayenne
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper

The cheese

  • ½ cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • ½ cup Shredded Smoked Gouda Cheese

The mix-ins

  • 20 oz Frozen Corn
  • 4 oz Smoked Ham
  • cup Chopped Crispy Bacon
  • ¼ cup French Fried Onions
  • ½ cup Chopped Green Onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat, then whisk in the flour and cook for two minutes.
  3. Slowly whisk in the milk, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper, and simmer until thickened, about five minutes.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheeses one handful at a time until fully mixed.
  5. Add the frozen corn, ham, and half of the crispy bacon, then taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a small casserole dish and sprinkle the french fried onions on top, covering with foil.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Garnish with the remaining bacon and chopped green onions before serving.
