Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F for tempeh bacon and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together tamari, rice vinegar, maple syrup, olive oil, cumin, smoked paprika, and black pepper in a bowl.
- Marinate the steamed tempeh in the mixture for 15 minutes, then layer on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until crisp and charred, then cool for 10 minutes.
- For shiitake bacon, preheat the oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet.
- Wipe mushrooms clean, slice them, and toss with olive oil and tamari, then spread on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, tossing halfway, until crispy.
- For coconut bacon, preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet.
- Toss coconut flakes with tamari, maple syrup, and smoked paprika, then spread on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 6 to 10 minutes until golden brown, watching carefully to avoid burning.
