Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine tamari, liquid smoke, maple syrup, and pepper.
- Slice the tempeh into thin strips, about 1-inch wide and ¼-inch thick.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tempeh to the skillet and cook until crispy and browned, about 4 to 5 minutes, then flip and repeat on the other side.
- Once crispy on both sides, add the marinade to the skillet and reduce the heat to medium.
- Cook while flipping occasionally until the tempeh is coated and the sauce has thickened, about 1 to 3 minutes.
- Remove the tempeh from the skillet and serve hot.
