Lavender Basil Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender
  • ¾ cup fresh basil, roughly chopped
  • ⅓-½ cup honey or coconut and/or granulated sugar
  • 5 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • to taste none ice for serving

Instructions

  1. Boil the lavender and 2 cups of water in a small saucepan.
  2. If using coconut or granulated sugar, add it to the boiling water.
  3. Remove from heat, add basil, cover, and steep for 10 minutes.
  4. Squeeze lemon juice into a tall glass pitcher.
  5. Stir in honey and 3 cups of water.
  6. Strain the steeped mixture into the pitcher with lemon juice.
  7. Stir well and adjust sweetness with water or honey as needed.
  8. Chill in the fridge until well chilled.
  9. Serve over crushed ice and garnish with lavender and basil.
