Ingredients

  • 15 oz canned pure pumpkin
  • cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • ½ - ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together pumpkin, sour cream, eggs, orange zest, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, blend the dry ingredients: flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Stir in the melted butter until fully incorporated.
  6. Divide the batter into two portions; mix chocolate chips into one portion if desired.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
